These two were in the tiny town of Corinth, Mississippi that is their hometown and were playing in two different bands. Their meeting was actually one of those happenstance moments. Weeks was visiting his best friend and playing the guitar when Jason came in for a rehearsal with his own band. They were playing music together from almost the first minute they were introduced. Both of them enjoy songwriting and vocals as well as guitars. It is the combination of sounds that these two musicians created that makes Saving Abel such a stand out among the countless bands that are performing today. In 2005, Skidd Mills, a music producer, happened to hear some of their songs, particularly “18 Days” and he took them under his wing. The great songs and music is the foundation of the band’s success and Jared and Jason both realize that this is where they excel. The last three members to round out the group were guitarist, Scott Bartlett, Blake Dixon who plays drums, and their talented bass player, Eric Taylor - together, they are Saving Abel. The band members have worked hard and have more than paid their entry dues into the world of rock. They held day jobs, scrimped on food in order to have money to get them to play dates and spent hours on the road promoting their music and demos. Weeks is a fan of the blues and of the country influenced southern rock style of music. Writing songs is a passion for him that consumes him at certain moments. Null was reared in a family that appreciated music. He got his first guitar at age 6 and says he was playing Johnny B. Goode within just a few hours. For him, Soundgarden, Metallica, and Alice in Chains influence his music as much as the sounds of Willie Nelson. Although their CD, “Addicted” was being promoted for a year it failed to ignite interest until Scott Frazier and Rick Smith of Virgin Records heard it. They immediately sent the song to their CEO, Jason Flom. The record company then sent Kim Stephens to listen to the band in Tennessee and they were signed to the label the next day. Some of the songs you can hear on their new debut album include “18 Days”, “Running from You” and “Drowning Face Down”. The album rocks with the best of blues, southern rock and alternative rock mixed together and then coming back at the listener with a new life of its own…that’s the beauty and the magic of Saving Able.
